Program Objectives:
The Study Abroad Program to Turkey offers interested students the
opportunity to
gain global consciousness
and cross-cultural perspective.
It is specifically
designed as an opportunity for VSU students to gain experiences
that promote a greater understanding of international business practices
and foster cross-cultural understanding.
During the almost four-week program, students earn six study abroad
academic-credits in
unforgettable Istanbul
through the combination of lectures, guest speakers, visiting places
of cultural and historical significance and direct engagement with
Turkish-based multinational corporations.

This is a three-week study abroad program that will be conducted
from May 18 to June 9, 2013
Location:
The primary location of the program is Yeditepe University, our
partner
institution in Istanbul, Turkey. Yeditepe University is located
on the Asian side of Istanbul. With 18,080 undergraduate and graduate
students, the university is the one of the Leading Foundation Universities
in Turkey. The medium of instruction at Yeditepe University is English.
Yeditipe University will arrange classroom space and accommodations
in at the university. They will also help in making field-trip arrangements
and Yeditepe students may accompany the group on field trips. For

Courses Offered:
Students will enroll for a maximum of six semester hours for the
following courses.
Three hours of credit will be offered in business and three hours
of credit will be offered in International Studies.
It is recommended that you enroll in both courses.

There will be approximately 45 hours of instruction per three-hour
course, of which 10-15 hours will be in the form of organized, course-relevant
field trips and excursion.

Program Fee:
The program fee of $3,300 includes
airfare, insurance, accommodation, most in-country transportation,
course-related field trips and excursions.
Tuition at VSU is not included in the program fee.
Security and Travel Arrangements:
The program will closely monitor State Department travel alerts
and recommendations. Yeditepe is a gated university, so security
for students on campus is very good.
Students will be given an orientation by locals, and will
be made aware of unsafe areas were tourist might encounter difficulties.
Roundtrip air travel is provided from Atlanta to Istanbul. Students
and faculty are responsible for their own travel arrangements to
and from the Atlanta airport.
Application Process & Eligibility:
The program is open to all Valdosta State and other University System
of Georgia students who are in good academic standing. All interested
students should follow the application procedures and requirements
explained on the
Center for International Program website
for Study Abroad Program in Turkey.
Scholarships Available:
The Summer Study Abroad Program in Turkey offers a $500 through
Georgia Gulf Sulfur Corporation scholarship to the first 10 students
who pay the deposit.
For Business Majors, the Steele and First Bank Study Abroad Scholarships
are available from the Langdale College of Business at Valdosta
State University. The deadline for the scholarships is
second Friday
in January.
