Blast Into Learning!
Designed by Lacey McGriff

My name is Zaleshia McGriff but I prefer to be called Lacey. I am a junior at Valdosta State University. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department. I was born in Waycross, GA but due to my mother's job I moved to Fitzgerald, GA where I currently reside. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was able to work with a first grade child. While tutoring and helping him I discovered he was unable to read. At that moment I knew I wanted to teach to assure all students are granted the opportunity to learn the basic skill of reading. I also love children and I am very excited about becoming an educator.

Even as a child I can remember playing school. I would line my baby dolls in rows on the floor, print math problems, and write homework assignments on my dry erase board. When I become a teacher I would love to teach first or second grade. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love taking pictures and my favorite thing to watch is Criminal Minds. I also enjoy traveling. I love going to the beach, especially Panama City Beach in Florida.

A few sites I found that are helpful to students and parents are FunBrain and  Primary Games. These websites help students in several subject areas. I also find the GPS Standards and Pre-K Content Standards to be very helpful to teachers. These are the basis of all lesson plans and are essential in the classroom.
