You are a reporter for The National Geographic. The editor, your boss, has given you a special assignment. You get to fly all around the world to take pictures of the different kinds butterflies.

Your editor wants you to tell about your trip and report on your favorite butterfly for your article. You will need to describe the butterfly, where it lives and what kind of caterpillar it came from.

In addition, your editor wants you to draw a picture of your favorite butterfly that you choose to put with your article in The National Geographic.

Mission Steps

1. Explore with your teacher I Once was a Caterpillar for information to write an article and draw pictures for The National Geographic.

2. Write or describe to your teacher about one (1) kind of caterpillar and what kind of butterfly it makes for your article.

3. Add the drawing(s) of your favorite caterpillar and butterfly to your article.

4. Give your article and drawing to your teacher to scan and publish on the Internet.
