My name is
Whitney Surrency and I am 21 years old. I have lived in
Nashville, Georgia my entire life. I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University, and
I am studying in the Early
Childhood and Special Education Department. I hope to
graduate from VSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education
by December 2010. I hope to be teaching a classroom full of eager
1st graders in or near my hometown by the following fall. Within the
next 5 or 6 years, I hope to be married, and eventually have a family
of my own!
I have one sister, named Christy.
For the most part, she and I get along pretty well. I am a member
of Nashville First Baptist Church. I am a very happy and patient
person. I can get along
with anyone, and I try to find the very best in everyone! I try to do
my best at anything I do. I believe everything happens for a
reason, and you have to make yourself happy in life! I am a
procrastinator. I work best under pressure! I enjoy spending time with
my family, friends, and my boyfriend. I have a Yorkshire Terrier named
Abby. I enjoy reading and I love to paint, even though I am not very
good at it. I also LOVE to shop! I do a lot of shopping for books for
my future classroom online at Amazon.
I have always wanted
to be a teacher, children are a blessing from God, and I truly feel
like this is my calling in life.
The following websites have been very helpful for me, and I believe
many teachers could benefit from them. Georgiastandards.org is the
website that has all of the Standards for the state of Georgia.
the Start has also been very helpful with PreK lessons. I have
linked both of these websites, which I hope will be convenient.
thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every
child should be given the wish to learn."
