you tell that I love cucumbers?
When I was a little girl, my Papa grew cucumbers for me in his
vegetable garden. He made my day every time he brought me a bag
fresh, crisp, green cucumbers. I enjoyed washing them off in the
sink, slicing off the ends, sprinkling them with salt and pepper, and
eating them just like they were pickles. I am twenty-two years
old now, and this past spring I planted my own vegetable garden.
My favorite vegetable was, of course, the cucumbers!
In one of my
classes last semester, I even wrote a poem about cucumbers.
has taken up all of my free time since February. I did not know
how much work a garden required. First, I cleared a spot for my
garden. Next, I tilled my soil. Then, I fenced
in the area so the bunny's could not eat my vegetables. I planted
my seeds and made sure to water them everyday. I also had to pull
weeds every week. Growing a garden is a lot of hard work, but it
is also fun! I love walking into my backyard to pick a
pretty, green cucumber and eat it. Growing my own cucumbers
brings back wonderful memories that I shared with my Papa as a little
live in Quitman,
Quitman is about twenty minutes south of Valdosta. I have lived
in this area for over 4 years. As a child, I moved back and forth
from Florida to Georgia. I also visited Alabama and North
Carolina. I have never been outside of the country. Within
the next year, I hope to be able to visit the Grand
Arizona. I have seen many pictures of the Grand Canyon, and it
looks absolutely breathtaking. I would love to visit the Grand
Canyon and take a lot
of pictures so that I can keep them forever.
