Cruising Through Math
Designed with you in mind by: Shirquinta Silas

Welcome to a cruising through math. This website was designed to help students at Griffin High School enrolled in math. I currently work at Griffin High School  home of the Bears. GHS is one of two high school in the  Griffin-Spalding School System, which is located in Spalding County. Griffin is approximately 50 minutes south of Metro Atlanta.

Now to acquaint myself with you on this voyage. My name is Shriquinta Silas and I am happily married to "D" with three beautiful girls; Shirmarie (10), Jordan (4) and Taylor (2). I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors in Business Administration from DeVry University. I am in my third semester at Valdosta State University and anticipating graduation in December 2009 with a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Special Education General Curriculum. After  several years of subbing  realized that I really enjoyed the joys of teaching and decided to sail into the teaching field. My final destination is to sail into a school counselor position in the near future. I am currently entering my second year of teaching at GHS, where I am the Special Education General Curriculum teacher in math.

My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, shopping, and traveling especially cruising with the fun ship Carnival.

Outside of my hobbies, I love to participate in any way possible with my Sorority
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc.

My classes at GHS include 9th through 12th grade students in Math I, Geometry, and Algebra II. My goal for this year is for all my students to meet and exceed standards of the remaining QCC and the beginning of the GPS for Math I. This upcoming year will be filled with many new and exciting ways to learn math and use it. Please feel free to visit the
Georgia Department of Education to see the standards that your child will learn throughout the year. One of my favorite sites is
