Traveling through Education

My name is Sarah Cox.I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University studying Early Childhood Education.  I am from a small town called Homerville and graduated from Clinch County High School in 2007. Until I was a sophmore in college I had no idea what career path to take, but  I soon discovered my love for children when my nephew and niece were born.  I love the excitement that young children have for life and would love to be a part of that joy.  I have been working at Brookfield Academy, a childcare center, since October 2008 and have loved every minute of it.  I knew the first day I started working with the kids that teaching was exactly what I wanted to do.

Traveling and photography are two of my favorite hobbies.  Every since I was a young girl, I have always loved going somewhere new.  I love exploring new and beautiful places.  A great travel site that my family and I always use is Expedia.  On Expedia, you can book a trip almost anywhere and are guaranteed to find a great price.   Whenever I travel, I never go without my camera.  Pictures are a huge part of my life.  I can not even count the number of scrapbooks and photo albums that fill not only my house, but my parents house as well.  One of my favorite websites for editing and ordering prints is Snapfish.com. It is very easy to use and has the cheapest products. Traveling and photography go hand in hand to me.  I could not travel without capturing the moment.

Over the years, the internet has become an amazing tool.  Although it is filled with games, gossip, and social networking, the internet is also full of education.  There are many great websites that can help students of all ages.  Brain Pop is a website filled with games, videos, activities, and much more.  There is a small subscription fee, but it is worth the dollar.  Brain Pop is divided into many different subjects and covers each in a fun and interesting way.
PBS is another great website.  PBS has a place for teachers, parents, and students, so it is excellent for everyone to use.  The teacher's page includes instruction and resources, and the parent's page includes advice, creative ideas, and learning ideas.  The kid's page is filled with games, videos, coloring sheets, and music.  The internet is a great way to make education exciting.
