My name is Sheena Smith and I am originally from Douglas, Georgia but currently attend Valdosta State University .  I am an Early Childhood Education major and look forward to my future as an educator.   I have always wanted to be a teacher and also enjoy teaching others.  Children have always held a special place in my heart.  Education is important to me because it is one thing in life that can't be taken away from you.  My teachers have always encouraged me and supported me through out life.  I have always been taught I can do anything I want if I try hard enough.   I have realized, as a student, teachers are some of the most important people in our lives and I hope that my future students remember me as they continue their education.

As a future educator I encourage my students to study and practice the material discussed in class in order to be successful in school.  Studying and practicing the material in today's generation can not only be a learning experience but a fun experience.  After searching the internet, one of my favorite sites to learn and have fun with is the Crayola Website.  A variety of educational and non educational activities can be found on this page.  Two more fun sites that I found for the students are Education World and Fun Brain.  I recommend Educational World and Crayola for teachers and parents who want to expand the horizon of learning for their child.

I am a firm believer in everything starts at home therefore I strongly encourage parents to work with their children at home.  With dedicated parents we can accomplish more at school and the students are ready to learn.  I also encourage students to get involved with extra curricular activites.  As a student in the past I enjoyed extra curricular activities such as band and baton.  These activities not only kept me out of trouble but helped to develop respect and discipline in the classroom.  I believe through sports, cheerleading, drill team, drama, and many other activities students develop discipline and strive to work harder in the classroom.  I look forward to working with all parents and students.
