 About Me:

Welcome! I am Ms. McEntire.  I teach at Gladden Middle School in the  Murray County School System of Chatsworth, GA.  Our school received the award of Breakthrough School of the Year this year.  We are also a Lighthouse School to Watch in Georgia.  Chatsworth is a small town at the foot of Fort Mountain.  It is located between Chattanooga, TN and Atlanta, GA with around 4,000 citizens.  We have several exciting landmarks such as the Chief Vann House and the first school of the Cherokees, the Spring Place Mission.

I graduated from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA in 2007 with a degree in Organizational Management and continued to work in document management for a year.  I worked with the Junior Achievement program, where business people go into the classroom to educate students about business, economics, and finances.  That is when I realized how much I enjoyed helping kids and watching them learn.  I talked to people from the schools and received a position in Special Education; and it was a  perfect fit!   I will be graduating with my Master's in Special Education this semester from Valdosta State University.

I have two shih tzus, Mason and Oliver.  Mason is 3 years old and Oliver is 6 years old.

They are so much fun!  Some of my hobbies include shopping, reading, and watching movies.  I also love watching UGA football, especially live at the stadium!  One of my recent hobbies includes gardening.  My favorite plant I have grown so far is the Amaryllis flower.

My Class:
I teach a mixture of 7th and 8th graders.  I teach Reading, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science with these students.   My favorite subject to teach is Reading.  We will be doing a variety of activities this year.  We practice on online programs such as Reading Plus and Daily Comprehension.  We also practice different reading techniques through the Reading First program.  We also help with the school's recycling program.

Class News:

Keep practicing your reading this summer to increase your words per minute and percentage of correct words read.
