Introduction
Do you know what is orange, round, and has a green stem at the top of it?  Some people use them to make pies with and others use them to decorate with.  If you have not guessed by now, I am talking about pumpkins.  Below are some websites that will enable you to see some various activites that can be done with pumpkins.

This website may be used to find out about the history of pumpkins.   If you ever wondered where pumpkins come from and where they were first grown, this is an excellent site.
g This website tells all about growing pumpkins.  It contains facts about how to grow pumpkins and the work that is needed to take care of them.

This website contains some cool facts about pumpkins.  Find out about the size of the biggest pumpkin.  Visit this website and learn about pumpkins, while having fun.

Use this website to find some delicious pumpkin recipes.  Spice it up for the holidays or any other time of the year with these pumpkin recipes.

Mission Activity

Now that you have explored some pumpkin websites, are you ready
to have some fun?  Imagine that you are going on a trip to a pumpkin patch and you get to choose any pumpkin you want.  You have to think about what makes a good pumpkin (i.e., the size, shape, or color).  Then you will take your pumpkin home and either do something creative with it, decorate with it, or use it to bake a pie.

1.) Explore the wonderful websites above and use the site on growing pumpkins to find out characteristics of a good pumpkin.
2.) As you are visiting the web sites, begin to think about what you would like to do with your pumpkin.
3.) List some characteristics about what makes a good pumpkin.
4.) Draw a picture of your pumpkin and tell what you are going to do with it. (i.e., make a pumpkin pie or use it to decorate)
