Painting the Path to Our Future

Seeds of Tomorrow

My name is Patricia West.  I am a Junior at Valdosta State University.  I am majoring in Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department.  Teaching has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl.  I love children and I love the fact that I will soon be able to make a positive spark in as many children lives as I come upon (I hope!).  When I was a child, I would spend all summer long going back over what I had learned that school year. I drove my older sister crazy when I would beg her to play school.  My mother always told me that I was destined to teach one day.

In my free time, I love going to the beach, camping, and fishing.
I cannot resist the smell of the ocean or the sand between my toes.
I also love to do all types of arts and crafts.  At my house, I have a magic craft box.  When I babysit, or have family over, the magic craft box is always brought out. A website that I love to get craft ideas from is  Free Kid Crafts.  Free Kid Crafts is a great website for educational craft ideas.  They have many themes to choose from, as well as great selection of puppet craft ideas.  I enjoy painting, but mainly for my own pleasure, not for anyone to critique.  I am not the best painter in the world (haha)!  My family and friends are the most important part of my life. Without all of them, I would not be who I am today.  My family have always believed in me, and even pushed me further in life, when I thought I could not go on.  I love them all so much for that.  My favorite hobby of all is cooking.  I love to cook for other people. It is very nice when someone eats your food and loves it.

I have found many useful educational websites that I would recommend for teachers and parents. I have chosen the two educational websites that I feel are the most helpful for parents and teachers. The first website I want to talk about is School Express.  This is an excellent website for parents to work with their children at home.  There are fun, creative games and worksheets to engage children in their own learning. I am an adult, but even I love to get on this website and play the educational games. The next educational website I will talk about is Learning Planet.  There are so many educational games on this website! The website has Early Learning Activities for teachers to incorportate into their classroom lessons. Learning Planet has word puzzles, quizzes, and many other educational games.
