Once upon a time, five little butterflies were
born. They were all beautiful, but all different. One was blue, one was
green,
one was red, one was yellow and the last one had no color at all. Their
mother
decided to name them Blue, Green, Red, Yellow and Invisible.
Invisible was a sad little butterfly. She wanted to
be like
her sisters because they were all bright and shiny. Everyone liked to
play with
her sisters, but no one played with her. It was not because they did
not like
her, but because they could not see her.
One day, she made a plan to become just like her
sisters.
First, she flew to the sun. She asked, "Mr. Sun, will you please change
colors with me so that I can be like my sister Yellow?" Mr. Sun
replied,
"I'm sorry, but if I did no one could see me. Then it would be dark all
the time and that would be very bad. I will give you two drops of my
color to
make you feel better." Invisible said thank you and flew away.
Next, she flew to the ocean and asked Mr. Ocean to
change
colors with her. Mr. Ocean said, "Invisible, I know you want to be like
your sister Blue but I can not change colors with you. If I change
colors with
you no one could see me and then they would not know where to swim. I
will give
you two drops of my color to make you feel better."
Invisible said thank you and flew away towards land.
When
she got to land she saw Mr. Grass. Mr. Grass was looking very bright
and green
and she thought of her sister. Invisible asked, "Mr. Green, will you
please change colors with me so that I may be bright and colorful like
my
sisters?" Mr. Green explained that he could not because then no one
would
know where to run and play. Mr. Green told her, "I will give you two
drops
of my color to make you feel better."
Invisible saw a red flower in the distance and
decided to
try one last time to change her color. She flew over to Mrs. Flower and
asked
her to change colors with her. "I'm sorry, said Mrs. Flower, but I like
the way I look and if I had no color the hummingbirds could not see me
to get
their nectar. I will give you two drops of my color to make you feel
better."
Invisible was still sad that she could not be like
her
sisters. She flew home and was surprised that everyone was looking at
her. She
was not use to everyone noticing her. Suddenly her mother came quickly
flying
up to her. "Invisible," she said, "What happened to you? You are so
beautiful. You are yellow, blue, green and red." Invisible could not
believe her ears. So, she flew inside to look in the mirror. When she
looked in
the mirror, she saw the most beautiful butterfly she had ever seen in
her life.
From that day on she was very happy and everywhere
she went she was noticed. Invisible was not really invisible anymore.
