Oldest Camp For Girls Celebrates 50th Anniversary

 

Swim Tourney Grand Climax To Activities

   In spite of rainy weather and the absence of many top swimmers, Camp Glenrochie’s 1950 Swimming Tournament presented a grand climax to the summer activities.

   The Red team won with a score of 111 1/3 points to the Greens’ 93 2/3 points.  The judges were Counselors Ruth Reid of Staunton, Va., Emma Martin of Raleigh, N. C., and Marge Carter of Valdosta, Ga.

   Winners in the different events are as follows: Pat O’Neill of Englewood, N. J., breast stroke for speed; Hazel Tseng, New York, N. Y., beginner’s flutter kick for speed; Caroline Phelan, Valdosta, Ga., swimmer’s crawl for form; Stephanie Knoch, Englewood, N. J., intermediate’s crawl for form; Hazel Tseng, beginner’s free style for speed; Eleanor Oppenhimer, Richmond, breast stroke for form; Mary Glover, Arlington, Va., elementary back for form.

   Caroline Phelan, side stroke for form; Pat O’Neill, free style for speed; Cynthia Knoch of Englewood, N. J., diving from the board; Caroline Phelan, diving from the side; Red team, free style medley; Hazel Tseng, beginner’s crawl for form.
