My name is Michelle Albury, but my friends call me Shelley. I am from the Bahamas and I lived there my whole life, until four years ago when I moved here to attend Valdosta State University. I am currently a senior in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department and majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. I am graduating this May and I look forward to starting the graduate program in the Fall.

Growing up in the Bahamas was an awesome experience and I feel privileged to be here studying at this University. I miss my home but this has been a great opportunity for me to learn and grow as a person. I firmly believe in education being a lifelong process and I am always excited to be learning new things. Two websites which I have found useful are the Scholastic website and the ReadWriteThink website. The Scholastic website has many resources for teachers, including thousands of lesson plans, and an abundance of activities for students. The ReadWriteThink website also has an excellent collection of lesson plans, along with links to other useful websites and educational games for students.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and travelling. I hope to pass my love for reading on to my future students because I believe that this lays a foundation for success. I have been to quite a few places in Europe but my absolute favorite was Italy. During my second year of college at VSU, I had the opportunity to study abroad for 5 weeks in Montepulciano. I took a literature class while I was there, so I got to do two of my favorite things at the same time: read and travel! I have many dreams for the future but my biggest one is to make a difference in the world one child at a time. Let's soar into education together!
