Hi! My name is Mary Beth Secor, and I would like to welcome you to my website. I am twenty years old and currently a junior here at Valdosta State University, pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have had a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher, and I'm so excited to finally becoming another step closer to fulfilling it. I love children and hope to make a difference in each and every one of their lives. I plan on graduating in the Spring of 2008. Upon graduating, I am going to obtain my Masters Degree in pursuit of teaching fifth grade within the Fayette County school system.

Originally born and raised in upstate New York for half of my life, I am now proud to call Peachtree City, Georgia home. I graduated in May of 2004 from one of the best high schools in the state of Georgia, McIntosh High School. I was involved in many extracurricular activities during my high school years such as: playing basketball and volleyball, running track, and playing the clarinet in the band.

In my spare time, I enjoy both playing and watching sports, making scrapbooks, going to theme parks, traveling, and most of all, spending time with my family and friends.  I absolutely love the Atlanta Braves, and my family and I catch a game every chance we get. I also spend a lot of time watching college basketball, and my favorite team is the Duke Blue Devils.
Living so close to Atlanta has it perks because I love the thrill of riding roller coasters at Six Flags' Theme Park and touring through Georgia's Aquarium, the largest one in the world.

In addition to my interest in sports, I absolutely love to travel. One of my favorite places to visit is
New York City because the atmosphere is so fast-paced with a lot of history, diverse culture, and lots of shopping there. Although I haven't been out of the country yet, I am planning a trip this March to go to Ireland and England. I'm really excited about this vacation, and I hope to one day have the opportunity to travel the world.

Technology plays a vital role in teaching students in today's classrooms. There are several great resources and helpful aids available online for teachers instructing every age group.  Two websites that I have found most helpful are: Scholastic Station because it contains numerous online activities, lesson plans, teaching strategies, and other helpful tools, and Education World because it has lesson plans, advice for new teachers, and displays ways to integrate technology within the classroom.
