Welcome to my page! My name is Lani Hollingsworth, and I am a junior at Valdosta State University. I am enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program, and someday soon I hope to be teaching. I have known from a young age that I have wanted to be involved in the classroom and that education is my passion. I am from a very small town called Cairo, GA. We're the Syrupmakers, and were recently voted as having the most unique mascot by Sports Illustrated.  We have a very close community filled with family, friends, and fun. My heart is there, and the children of rural areas inspire me to give education my all.
Baseball        Baseball        Baseball
Baseball is one of my favorite hobbies. I am not much of a player, but I love to watch the Atlanta Braves play baseball. I started watching the Braves with my grandparents when I was a very small child, and I have recently rediscovered my love for the game. I recently attended the Phillies v. Braves game, and we won in the bottom of the ninth. I think that baseball is a great analogy for education. Through hard work and perseverance you will be able to succeed against all odds.

As a student in the education program, my focus is becoming more and more on my future students. One of the first things I have learned is that education begins in the home. One of the best home to school connections I have found is located here. It covers a variety of skills that future kindergarten students can work on at home to get ready for school. These games, practice sheets, and activities will help inspire learning. A wonderful website for teachers is located at this website, and is a generator for a variety of things including lesson plans, activities, tools to help with classroom management. Teaching is my passion and it is helpful to know there are recourses out there to help with the transition to being in the classroom.
