Hello students and parents! Welcome to Mrs. Thompson's Math web page.
    Lakeview Middle School
, home of the Warriors, is located in Ft. Oglethorpe,
    Georgia
and is
part of the Catoosa County School System. Established in 1949,
    Ft. Oglethorpe is a
small town located in beautiful Northwest Georgia, a few
miles south of the Tennessee state line. It is home to part of the historic
Chickamauga Battlefield National Park and is named after the founder of the
                           Georgia colony, James Oglethorpe.

My name is Lisa Thompson and I teach resource math at Lakeview Middle
School. Although this is my first year teaching, I have worked with the Catoosa
County School System for over 10 years. I graduated from Covenant College
with a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management, and am currently
working on my Master's Degree in Special Education from Valdosta State
University. My husband and I have been married for 29 years, and we have five
beautiful children ranging in age from 12 to 26. While I enjoy working with all
subject areas, my absolute favorite subject is math. I really love math! (I even like
to do math just for fun!) In my spare time, my other hobbies include reading,
                         swimming, and horseback riding.

When teaching, I want to make learning about math a fun and magical
experience for my students. My number one rule is to try your best each and
every day! Even if you make mistakes, learn from them and keep trying your
best! In my class, the Georgia Performance Standards are used to guide our
daily instruction. By looking at math in a positive manner, using different
teaching strategies, and presenting new information in a variety of ways, I
hope to actively engage all types of learners. Overall, my goal for all my
students is to gain greater self-confidence, to grow stronger as problem solvers,
to become better analytical thinkers, and to increase their knowledge of
                              mathematical understanding.
