Hello!  Pack up and get your passport stamped to travel through education.  My name is Lauren Winn and I am a junior at Valdosta State University. I have a passion for working with children, so I am majoring in Early Childhood Education through Valdosta's Early Childhood & Special Education Department.  My expected date to graduate is 2009.  I get the most joy out of seeing children learn and grow.

At VSU I am involved in the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry).  This year I will be leading sophomore girls in a Bible study through Hebrews 11, along with Amy Adamson and Jessica Pool.  Our desire is to see these girls be challenged and grow in their relationship with our savior Jesus Christ.

I was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but at age four my family and I moved to Newnan, Georgia.  Newnan is well known for the beautiful historic homes that still stand in the downtown area.  I went to Newnan High School which is where I spent over three hundred hours my junior and senior year in classrooms across Newnan observing and teaching.  Growing up I spent a lot of my time at Unity Baptist Church in the children and student ministries.  This is where I learned about Jesus and received Him as my Savior.  As I got older I began to work and volunteer in both of these ministries.  Newnan holds many great memories and people that are close to my heart.  Anytime I have a long weekend I can spend at home with family and friends I travel as quickly as possible.

I have spent the last two summers working at a camp in Andrews, North Carolina.  Snowbird is an extreme outdoors christian camp.  Although we offer many physical challenges, our greatest desire is that God challenges and changes every student that walks onto our campus.  From Valdosta, Ga it is about a six hour drive to Andrews, North Carolina, but there are many Snowbird missionaries who have traveled to the ends of the earth.  Snowbird wants to be established as a mission board. For their first fully supported mission they would like to send a small team to travel and live in Romania making disciples who will be able to lead and build up churches when we leave.

Because I have had the priviledge of working with teachers, I know the importance of teacher resources.  The Teachers Corner is a site I found that includes many helpful resources and tips for teachers.  There are links to everything from lesson plans to message boards between teachers.  Another convenient website for teachers is School Express.  Here you can find activities and resources for all ages and subjects.
