My name is Kelly Lindsey and I am a teacher at Coffee Middle School in Douglas, Georgia.   helmet

Coffee County is home of the Trojans and school spirit is very important in the community.  Everyone comes together to attend sporting events and support students in school events.  Coffee County is a small, rural community that prides itself on its small town feel and fellowship.  Improving student achievement is a main goal not only for Coffee Middle School, but for the Coffee County School System.  Coffee Middle School's Mission statement: "CMS is the BRIDGE (Building Relationships, Integrity, Dedication, Growth, Excellence) where Community Meets Success! 90% meets or exceeds in all areas of the CRCT and student attendance. "  The staff at Coffee Middle School, work together and support each other to give the school a family feel.  It is a great place to work.

I graduated from Valdosta State in August of 2009 and began my first year of teaching two days after graduation.  I am currently taking classes to obtain my Masters degree in Special Education General Curriculum from Valdosta State.  I am originally from Virginia but I am probably in Coffee County for good as my husband, David, is a Coffee County native.  We have two children, Hannah is 3 and Brett is just one week old.  One of my favorite things to do is watch college football with my family.  My husband and I may not cheer for the same team but we enjoy watching together.  I am a huge VA Tech fan while my husband is an Auburn fan.  We go to as many Auburn games as we can and my daughter loves it! We look forward to bringing Brett to his first Auburn game in the Fall.

I co-teach 6th grade language arts with Betty Lott.  The class consists of grammar instruction as well as reading comprehension and a poetry unit.  Our sixth grade language arts teachers collaborate once a week to revise units and discuss instruction.  We use these units in our classroom but delivery of the information is dependent on the learning style of the students and the teaching style of the teachers.  We use small group instruction and collaborative learning opportunities for the majority of instruction.  We use the computers as one learning station and the students visit educational websites that are relevant to instruction.  Click on the picture below to go to a website full of Language Arts games and learning activities.
