Hi!  My name is Kristen Smith and I want to welcome you to my web page.  I am an Early Childhood Education major at Valdosta State University where I am in my first block of professional courses.  I will graduate in the Fall of 2005 and plan to receive my masters degree while teaching.

I am originally from Valdosta, Georgia where I attended St. Johns private school from kindergarten through eighth grade and Valdosta High School.  On Friday nights during football season you can usually find me at Bazemore Hyder Stadium cheering on the Valdosta Wildcats!  I enrolled at VSU in the Fall of 1998 and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing degree in the Summer of 2002.  After a year of searching for a job I decided to return to VSU to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.  I am fortunate to have found two areas of study that I enjoy practicing!

My friends and family are the most important priorities in my life and would all describe me as a true "girlie girl."  I love anything that involves purses, makeup, the color pink and my sorority, Phi Mu.  As a member of the Kappa Beta chapter here at VSU I served as the Philanthropy Chair to Children's Miracle Network where I hosted several events to raise money for Shand's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.  I also had the opportunity to become a Recruitment Counselor for the Fall 2001 session and loved getting to know all of the wonderful girls that came to VSU to become a part of Greek Life.

I am a true planner and jump at the chance to organize anything from group meetings to big parties!  When school and work start to get too stressful I usually plan a reunion weekend for my sorority sisters and best friends from college.  We've cruised to the Bahamas and flew to Las Vegas for big trips, but we're usually happy with grilling out and going to see Laney Strickland play.  I love summer vacations and look forward all year to St. Augustine with my family.  We start planning months ahead of time in an attempt to make each vacation better than the last.

I hope to use my talent for planning fun and unique events in my teaching methods and to create a classroom that students love to be a part of.  I am very excited about being in the Early Childhood Education program and look forward to observing and teaching in elementary classrooms!
