Fall in Love with Education

Hello!  Welcome to my page, "Fall in Love with Education."  There are so many people, things, and places that I love in my life. In these pages I am going to share those things with you.  My name is Katie Lynn Wetherington and I am a Junior at Valdosta State University majoring in Early Childhood Education.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl.  I use to play "school" everyday in my bedroom.  I would use my dolls as students and "teach" them lots of different things by using my chalk board and pointer.  So, I am very excited about having my own classroom someday.  I hope to make a difference and be there for my students in every way possible.

I live with my Daddy part time in Hawkinsville and my Mama the other half of the time in Perry (when I'm not in Valdosta).  I have a younger brother, Cody.  We have always been very close. He is my heart and my best friend.  He is a senior at Perry High school and is on the drum line in the band.  He can play the drums like you would not believe!  I love him more than anything!

I have a Toy Poodle.  Her name is Princess Maggie and she has my heart!  She is so sweet and loving but also very spoiled!  She is my first puppy so she is extra special.  I never knew you could love an animal so much!  We are very attached!  She goes everywhere with my family and I.  She saw the beach for the first time this summer and hated the ocean!   She is very "opinionated"! We love to watch LSU football together. Go Tigers!  She is like a sister to me and I love her so much!

When I moved to Valdosta last August, I gained two new best friends.  They are Abby and Amy.  They are very special to me and are always there for me when I have a problem or need someone to talk to.  They are very funny and can always cheer me up.  We love doing things together.  In fact, we are going to New York City in three weeks.  I can't wait!  I don't travel much because I am terrified of airplanes.  I have always wanted to visit New York and I'm so glad I am getting the opportuinty to go.  While there we are going to see Mary Poppins on Broadway (my favorite movie).  I am very excited about this!

I found two very helpful websites that will help me as a teacher.  The first website is Crayola.com.  It gives many creative ideas to educators to use in their classroom.  My Mother says she uses it often with her children (she is a teacher).  Another website I found helpful is proteacher.com.  This website gives suggestions from other teachers on how to manage your classroom when it comes to discipline.
