Pail in Sand

Welcome to the Sand Box!  My name is Katie Keene and I was born and raised in Adel, Georgia.  I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University where I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in Interrelated Early Education / Special Education.  My expected graduation date is summer 2007.  I will then further my education by pursuing a Masters degree in functional learning by specializing in those with low incidence disabilities.  I want to teach in the field for several years, try to complete my doctorate degree, and eventually become a district director or maybe a professor.

My favorite place to visit and vacation is St. Augustine Beach, Florida.  Every summer since I was a baby my family has gone to the beach in St. Augustine for a week during summer vacation, so it holds a lot of memories for me.  Another reason this place is so special and memorable to me is because June 30, 2006 I got engaged on the beach there, and I am now planning a wedding in St. Augustine at Four Winds Condominium November 17, 2007.

One of my favorite teacher's websites is A New Teacher's Survival Guide.  This site is wonderful for the new and upcoming teacher.  It has ideas for how to get organized, a check list for what you should do on your first day, and even tips on classroom management, discipline, and grading.  This site provides reminders and new ideas for the unknown first teaching experience.  My second favorite website is the Scholastic website.  This website has online activities, ideas for teachers to use in the classroom, and lots of books for really great prices.  Check these out and enjoy!
