Down Under Learning

My name is Kim Baker and I am currently a senior at Valdosta State University.  I am triple major focusing on Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department and Business Management and International Business through the Langdale College of Business

My friends mean the world to me and I do not know what I would do without them.  I spend all of my free time hanging out with my friends and sorority sisters of Chi Omega.  I also spend a lot of time playing with my puppy, Bella.  I also love to travel.  I spent the summer of 2009 studying abroad through the University of Georgia's South Pacific Program where I traveled to Queensland, Australia, Sydney, and Fiji.  I am hoping to participate in another study abroad program to Europe within the next couple of years.

Education and learning has always been a very important aspect of my life.  I am hoping to teach in Kindergarten through 3rd grade for a couple years to gain experience in teaching.  Eventually I would like to open a Montessori Preschool.  I have found many valuable websites that have helped me so far towards becoming a good teacher.  A website I find useful is Scholastic's website for learning where parents, teachers, and students can learn about different topics, read stories, and play learning games.  Another website that will provide the same activities with different topics is PBS's website.
