Hello, My name is Jillian Cobb I am currently a senior at Valdosta State University.  My major is Early Childhood Education and I plan to graduate in December of 2010. I am from the small town of Lousiville, Georgia where I attended Thomas Jefferson Academy. Growing up in a small town I would usually babysit on the weekends to have something to do. Always being around children has given me a strong passion to become a teacher and become an impact in a child life.

My mother teaches second grade, watching her teach students has always made me want to become a wonderful teacher just like her
. While attending Valdosta State University I have become involved with many organizations around campus. I am a sister of Phi Mu sorority. I am also on the  Overall Committee for Dance Marathon and the Catering Chairman. Dance Marathon is a 15 hour event to help raise money for Children's Miracle Network and Shand's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Last spring I attended Harry Wong's speech on education. He is a motivational speaker for teachers and anyone thinking of going into the education field. Harry Wong's book The First Days of School is a book everyone should purchase or at least read. His book explians how to become an effective teacher.

Some great educational website I find useful are Education World, which has lesson plans and teaching tips and Teacher Tube, which is a great website for educational videos.
