Hello! My name is Jessica McCrillis and I am a junior at Valdosta State University. I was born and raised in the small town of Vidalia, Georgia. I have just begun my major classes in the department of Early Childhood Education, and I am very excited about the teaching opportunities ahead. As of now I believe I would like to teach kindergarten or first grade because I love the little ones who are still young, and are interested in learning. I knew I could not resist continuing my education at Valdosta State University when I traveled down to Valdosta and saw the beautiful campus and all the wonderful palm trees. I also loved that it was not too close, but not too far away from home. I knew right away that Valdosta was the right place for me and have been in love with it since the day I got here.

Since being in Valdosta, I have become involved with a few different campus activities including Alpha Delta Pi, the Wesley Foundation, and Baptist Collegiate Ministries. All three of these organizations have made a huge impact on my college experience. They have allowed me to meet many new people and travel many different places including Sumpango, Guatemala, a place I was able to travel to twice. In Guatemala I worked in an orphanage, called La Senda, where I was able to love on those kids and also teach them English. This summer I plan to do Summer Missions with the BCM. When signing up for Summer Missions, I will not know where I will go, but I am very excited about the opportunities ahead! God has given me a heart for underprivileged children, and there is no telling where I may end up teaching these wonderful kids.
