The Giving Tree is a wonderful book by Mr. Shel Silverstein. I chose to do this one because I remember reading it when I was younger and wishing I had a tree that could talk to me and care about me!!! A boy befriends a tree and always asks things of it. The tree always gives to the boy, and eventually gives him all that he haves. As the boy grows up he doesn't spend time with the tree anymore, but the tree continues to give all that it has. Eventually the tree completely gives itself to the boy and is no longer a tree, but a stump.
It's a wonderful book on giving and caring for others more than you care or yourself.
