A Preview of Prefixes!

Standard ELA4R3 The student understands and acquires new vocabulary and uses it correctly in reading and writing. The student:
a) Identifies the meaning of common prefixes (e.g., un-, re-, dis-)
b) Determines the meaning of unknown words using their context
c) Determines meanings of words and alternate word choices using a dictionary
or thesaurus.

PLO: Students will recognize common prefixes and use their knowledge of the meaning of these prefixes to make an educated guess about the meaning of the word.  Students will use strategies and tools such as using context clues and dictionaries to check and refine their guesses about the meanings of words with common prefixes.
