My name is Heather Bishop, and I am originally from Valdosta, Ga. I have recently moved back to Valdosta from Petersburg, VA after being in Virginia for 3 years.  I am currently a senior working on my second undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education here at Valdosta State University. I received my first degree in Communications from VSU  and worked several years in this field before returning to school. I have always wanted to teach and am very excited to begin this new chapter in my life.I have been married for three years and have a wonderful two year old little boy who keeps me busy.

I love to travel all over and have even completed a study abroad to London for a Summer semester. My favorite destination is the beach, specifically  Nags Head, or the Outer Banks area off the coast of North Carolina. This beach is small but has so many unique qualities to offer. I also enjoy the mountains and have lived in Crested Butte, CO and worked on a ski resort as a lift operator for a year. I was fortunate to work for the Savannah College of Art and Design after graduation and traveled for the school to recruit students all over the United States as an Admissions Counselor. My husband and I enjoy traveling and hope to continue to travel as much as possible in the future. One of our other passions is sports, we love football both college and professional and we are also big baseball fans. Our favorite teams are, the Florida Gators, the  Virginia Tech Hokies, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees.

I believe internet resources are great for teachers, parents and students in the classroom. Some of my favorite websites for students are PBS Kids, which has games, music, videos and even printable pictures students can color. This website also has an area for parents and teachers with activities and guidelines for different lessons. Another great website for students, parents and teachers is Funbrain. This website offers teachers different activities for each grade level, and educational games students can play at home or in the classroom. Teachers play such an important role in children's lives and it is up to educators to motivate and encourage each child that sits in their classroom.
