Mission Activity

You have just learned many new things about Thanksgiving. Now, lets go back in time to the first Thanksgiving feast. Pretend that you will be attending this feast which is an wonderful event! You are excited to share this meal with the new friends you have made.You will be able to introduce them to the kinds of food you eat and learn what kinds of food they eat.
  • First, you must decide whether you want to be a Pilgrim or an Indian. Find out what kinds of clothes they wore to Thanksgiving dinner. Need help? Click here.
  • You are responsible for taking 3 food items to this dinner, what will they be? They must be foods that were eaten at the first Thanksgiving. If you need help finding food click here.
  • Last, you are expected to tell something that you are thankful for.
Once you have decided on these 3 things, draw a picture of yourself and the food you are going to take. Also, write what you are thankful for under your picture.

Mission Steps
  1. Explore the Web sites above, including Plimoth Plantation, with your teacher to help you decide whether you want to be an Indian or Pilgrim and what foods you would like to take to the dinner.
  2. Draw a picture of yourself (an Indian or Pilgrim) in the kind of clothing you would have worn back then.
  3. Draw a picture of each of the three foods you are taking to the dinner. Remember that they must be foods that were eaten at the first Thanksgiving.
  4. Don't forget to write something you are thankful for at the bottom of your paper.
  5. Share and explain your picture with your teacher and peers. Your teacher will then put your picture on the internet!
