Ryleigh Reister
This is my daughter, Ryleigh.

My name is Erika Reister.  I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University.  My major of Early Childhood Education is in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department.
I began at Valdosta State as a Psychology major with plans to work in the school system as a school counselor.  After a few semesters, I realized that I belonged in the classroom and I felt that I would leave more of a lasting impression on my students if I was teaching them.  I look forward to my journey through the education program here at VSU, and I cannot wait to become a teacher.  I hope to be the teacher that will leave a lifetime impression on my students.

Lifesaving Links for Educators!

As a student in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department at Valdosta State University, I have come to heavily rely on several key websites that help me in my planning as a future educator.  When planning these lessons, I am required to base every lesson around a standard.  Standards give educators guidelines for teaching students the content that they need to know.  Educators who are in a Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, or Fifth grade classroom follow     Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and Quality Core Curriculum (QCC).  Pre-K teachers use standards known as Bright From the Start.  These different guidelines for teachers prepare the students for the next grade level.
