Once upon a time there was a little boy named AJ who lived up on a hill with his mother.  AJ was a very shy and scary boy, who never went outside to play not even to go to school.  The house that AJ lived in was big and was made of pretty red bricks.  Most of the people in the neighborhood admired the house because it was the only house that sat up on top of a hill.

Everyday children from the neighborhood would go up to the house on the hill and rang the door bell to see if AJ wanted to play.  It never failed AJ always came up with some excuse as to why he couldn't play.  “I havve tooo wasssh the dishesss" AJ would answer the little children would reply back by saying "ok how about later?"  AJ would then come up with other excuses like "after that I have to clean my room and then I have to feed my dog and get ready for bed."  Realizing that AJ was going to find any excuse to keep from coming outside the children decided to leave and try again tomorrow.  The next day came and same little children from the neighborhood went back to AJ's house, the one that sat up on the hill and had the pretty red bricks that all the parents admired. Only this time the children had a plan as to a way to spend time with AJ.

They all walked up onto the porch and rang the doorbell as usually AJ answered the door.  "Hi AJ" the children replied would you like to come outside and play with us they asked, and as usually AJ came up with normal excuses.  When AJ went to turn around to go back into the house all the children from the neighborhood went rushing right behind him into the house.  "What are you doing?"  AJ replied, you want come out and play with us because you always have something to do answered one of the children from the group, so we decided that today we would help you with whatever it is you have to do so that afterwards you can go outside and play with us.

Critical thinking questions to askstudents that would change your story to their story:
1. How would you change the main character? (introduction)
2. Where would your story take place? (Setting)
3. What would happen to the main character in your story? (Plot)
4. How would your story end? (Ending)
