Walk Through The
Woods of Education
by Erika Faulkner
My name is Erika Faulkner and I am a
student at Valdosta State
I am a junior in the Early
Childhood Education program. I'm originally from Atlanta,
Georgia, or more specifically Fayetteville, Georgia, but came to a
smaller area for my college career ( I like big city
convenience , not big city living). After my graduation and teacher
certification I hope to either join the Peace Corps, do some short term
mission work, or return to my home in Atlanta for my first year
teaching. I want to stay flexible and keep my options for the future
open.Who knows where I will be next Thursday, much less in a couple of
years. I will be happy as long as it has something to do with education.
have a variety of interest and am usually always up to something;
however, I do enjoy large periods of rest as well. I love making and
creating things, and usually I always have some sort of art activity
cluttering up my apartment. I paint and bake, normally banana nut
when I am angry; however, usually I am a very happy type person. I
greatly enjoy learning, which is one of the reasons I
want to teach. With a love for learning, if you come and visit me, your
likely to find my sewing machine on the kitchen table since I am
learning to quilt. History , Discovery, Travel, and The Learning
Channels are just about the only stations I watch, along with Food
Network and Home and Garden Television.
I must confess I am a bit of a
history nut and have been involved with Civil War reenacting,
and I have
even worked at the Georgia
Also, I have a love for adventures. Adventures that are small or large
in nature or take me near and far are always welcome. Whether the World of Coke in Atlanta
or my dream of one day going to New Zealand.
little more knowledge about me I am a member of Crosspointe
in Valdosta. I have been involved with crosspointe since I started
college my freshman year. It is a wonderful place where I am involved
in a lifegroup and also co-lead one for college age young ladies. A
lifegroup is Crosspointe's version of Sunday school and a Bible study
that is more flexible to the busy, modern lifestyle, and so much more.
When at home, I am also involved with church and recently started
attending Jonesboro Church of God with my Aunt and Uncle. I believe it
is important for me to be steeped in who God is wherever I am at. My
relationship with God is a very important part of my life, which I am
open and honest about with others.
you have exhausted what there is in business, politics,
conviviality, and so on - have found that none of these finally
satisfy, or permanently wear - what remains? Nature remains.

US poet (1819 - 1892)
