Hello
everyone. My name is Douglas Turley and I grew up in Hartford
City, IN, a small farm
town in northeast Indiana.
I attended Ball State University
and majored in music performance with an emphasis in symphonic
instruments. I've been playing bass since I was about 13 years old, and
have been playing professionally for the last 10 years. I am now living
in Moultrie, GA and pursuing a masters degree in Special
Education from Valdosta State
University.
I have been a substitute and full time teacher in many school
districts
and am looking forward to becoming a fully certified teacher.

II
have always had a passion for playing music and probably always will.
After college I moved to Chicago, IL where I lived and played for
six years. I then moved to Las Vegas, NV where I made my living
peforming for the past three years. I've been lucky enough to have
performed with many world class musicians, including some very famous
ones. I have played all over the country and in Europe and Mexico. My
most recent role as a bass player was with Michael Grimm
in Las Vegas. He is an extremely talented singer/songerwriter from Bay
St. Louis, LA. I have many pictures and videos of my musical
experiences and travels on myspace.com. My
experience as a performer has helped in many ways when I'm in front of
a classroom full of unruly students!
I am
particularly fond of teaching high school, as most days I feel like I'm
still a 17 year old. I relate well to high school age kids and love to
guide them in a positive direction whenever possible. While I was
teaching full time while in Chicago, I found some very useful websites
for teachers. Two of these sites are Teachers
Corner and Free Lesson
Plans.
Both of these sites were very helpful for a green teacher fresh out of
the gates! I look forward to teaching a high school level inclusion
class, hopefully in math or science.
