Pooh Rainbow

Hello and welcome to my page!! My name is Dorian Lyles and as you can see, I am still a kid at heart. I love Winnie the Pooh, especially Eeyore (he's my favorite). I am an army brat although I have been fortunate enough not to have to move all over the place! Instead, I have lived the majority of my life in the little town of Hinesville, GA. I graduated from Bradwell Insitute in May of 2006 and entered Valdosta State University as a freshmen in August of 2006. I originally was an English major but I am now a very proud Early Childhood Education major.

After I graduate with my degree in ECE, I plan on getting a second degree as an American Sign Language Interpreter. While working on this degree, I would like to teach 5th grade. I would one day like to work specifically with deaf/hard of hearing children. I would also one day like to establish my own reading program at the school I am teaching at. Reading is one of my favorite activities to do. My favorite book series of all time is The Baby Sitters Club. I believe the more we get children involved in reading, the more they will want to learn!

My decision to enter the education field came from my family. My nieces and little brother especially have been my main influences. My oldest niece, Jhazmin, is only six years old but she is very smart for her age. I think it is wonderful that she is so intelligent already at the young age of six. My little brother is thirteen and has struggled in school since the 5th grade. His main reason for struggling is because he hasn't had any real teachers whom have taken out the time to really show they care about his education. I believe that as educators, we should always let our students know that we care and want them to succeed!
