My name is Dana Singleton and I am a junior at Valdosta State University where I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. I recently moved to Valdosta from my hometown in Bainbridge, Georgia. I have always known I have wanted to be a teacher because I love school and love working with children. I also come from a family of teachers; my mother, grandmother and cousins are all teachers.  I work at Brookfield Academy where I get to work with children all day and I love it. One of the main reasons I wanted to become a teacher is because I love to help others and watching a child understand something and have fun while doing it is one of the most rewarding moments and it is a great feeling!

I am very close with my family and they play a huge role in my life. I enjoy spending time with them and doing fun things. One of my favorite things to do with my family is travel.  My favorite place we went to so far was Washington D.C., it is full of so much history and a lot of fun things to do.  Another favorite place we go to is the beach, we always have fun and it is relaxing. When we are back home we are usually grilling out and having fun by the pool. I have a younger brother, Chance, who is also in college and he is majoring in Forestry. My mother taught third, fourth and fifth grade for years but now teaches the ALTO program at the Performance Learning Center in Bainbridge and my father works at Propex a company also in Bainbridge. One thing I love to do besides travel is to read. It is something that is relaxing but exciting also! One of the websites I use to see what new books are out is Barnes and Noble.

I have came across many great websites that are wonderful resources for teachers and parents but two of my favorite websites are EdHelper and Scholastic.  EdHelper has several activities and resources for parents and teachers. Scholastic's website has many resources, activities and games for teachers, parents and students. I think both of the website's are great and something I will be using in my classroom.
