Motivating Math Concepts through Game Engine Examples
Dr. Jam Jenkins, developer of the Freely Available Networked Game (FANG)
Engine, will share some of the mathematical concepts he used in the
implementation of his game engine. These examples can be used to motivate
students to learn concepts as they are applied in game development. He will
talk about using matrices for two-dimensional rotation, scaling and
translation, commutability of matrix multiplication, collision detection and
rates of change, coordinate systems, and others concepts taught in
introductory math courses.
