I would like to welcome you to my class webpage.  I am excited and proud to be teaching in Gwinnett County at Sweetwater Middle School.  This will be my third year as a Sweetwater Saint.  Our school has the privilege of being a pilot school for the 2012-2013 for eCLASS. eCLASS is a digital Content, Learning, Assessment, and Support System that will change the way our students interact and learn.  So many of our students are experts in technology already, so why not use that expertise and allow learning to reach their lives through the gadgets they already have mastered.  At Sweetwater, we have already seen great success with pilot programs, like the STEP program, so we know we will continue our tradition with eCLASS.

    Before I started teaching, I was in retail management for 10 years at everyone's favorite bookstore, Barnes & Noble.  I still frequent the store weekly to catch up on the latest spy thriller by Daniel Silva.  I spend my days taking care of my lovely daughter, Ella, with my wonderful and hardworking wife, Jamie.  We will celebrate our fifth year of marriage this upcoming September.  Chasing my daughter around gets me in shape for boating on Lake Lanier and my once a year obstacle course run in the Warrior Dash.  No, I do not mind getting a little dirty to accomplish a goal.

                                                 

    This will be my third year teaching as a learning specialist in 8th grade algebra.  I have the honor of co-teaching with an amazing teacher and surefire future teacher of the year, Ms. Jenkins. We will be collaborating over the summer on the website so make sure you check back in for some great information.  In addition to teaching with Ms. Jenkins, I will also be co-chairing the GraduateFIRST program where we will be working with students on career preparedness.  This will include practice filling out application and resumes, interview preparation and traveling to local businesses to experience a typical workday.  If you are just itching to get started, we will be starting Common Core next year so you can browse exactly what we will be covering.
