The City Learning Experience
Designed by Christine Ferreyra

Hello, my name is Christine Ferreyra and my major is currently Early Childhood Education. I am a junior at Valdosta State University and I plan on graduating in May 2010. I was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, but moved to Atlanta my sophomore year of high school. When I started my new life in Atlanta I knew this was the place for me the beautiful buildings and culture, I love it. The city is where I became to find my joy for learning because it has changed my life with new experiences. I had some wonderful teachers who really impacted my life, and I also had some who were not so inspiring, but that made me determined to be in the teaching profession.

xtine    Fast Pace City I love to travel to different cities.
♥ I've been to New York, San Francisco, & Seoul, Korea. I've never been the one to sit at home all day, it's just not me. I have to be out experiencing life for myself, I guess you could say I have an outgoing personality.

sun Traveling to the Stone Mountain to hike is one of my favorite things to do in Atlanta. I love the feeling of being in the city and having nature right next door.
Some other activities I enjoy are:
Shooting pool,
Hanging out with friends,
and last but not least, teaching!

The websites I recommend for teachers are Hubbard's Cupboard & Carls Corner. Hubbard's Cupboard is a wonderful website because it has Pre-K and Kindergarten assessments, curriculum, room arrangement ideas and it's a very helpful. Also, I like Carls Corner because it was created by a retired teacher and language arts specialist. This site provides excellent resources and materials for teachers, reading, and language arts. The site contains hundreds of downloadable information for classroom use and the areas include alphabet, centers, games, phonics, reading, month/seasonal calendar activities and so much more. On a more important note, this site includes activities for teaching Spanish language students, this is helpful because we have a lot of English for Speakers of Other Languages or commonly known as ESOL.

This is my hometown Fort Walton Beach, and I use to go to the beach every day. I lived 10 minutes driving distance from the pearly white sand, which is nicknamed The Emerald Coast. My father was in the military and station there in 1988 at Eglin Air Force Base. The high school I attended before I transferred to Meadowcreek was Choctawhatchee High School. I use to be in the Stylemarchers marching band and they won a lot of awards for their excellence. The Stylemarchers were back-to-back Florida State champion in 2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2007-2008, and were runners-up for 2006 and 2007. Basically I was fortunate enough to experience this first hand and I was a talented flute player, but I am kind of rusty now. I think it's been 10 years now that I have been playing the flute, but now I just play for fun.
