Soar into Learning
Designed by Clay Cumbee

I'm Clay Cumbee and I attend Valdosta State University Majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education. I'm from a small town called Fitzgerald, Georgia. I graduated from  Fitzgerald High School in May of 2006. I originally decided to attend Valdosta State because It was some what close to home and also that I had family in the Valdosta area. After my first semester here I knew I made right call to attend VSU.

I am involved on campus with the Baptist Collegiate Ministries, where I am on leadership and also lead a small group. For the past two summers, I have been honored to work for WinShape Camps as a camp counselor. During the summer the team that I was a part of would travel across the southern United States putting on week long day camps for children in 1st- 6th grade. I believe that my experience working with children will greatly benefit my teaching career. I've been as far away as Lexington, Kentucky and Frisco, Texas with WinShape Camps. Also, I'm a huge supporter of the Valdosta State Blazers athletics.

Some links that I have found to be very helpful in preparing to become a professional educator,  as I have used the them very frequently are, The Georgia Performance Standards, and the scholastic webpage. First the Georgia Performance Standards give the educator what the students are expected to learn. Also the scholastic site is excellent site for both educators and students to gain more tools in the education field
