In May 2006 the VSU Engineering Studies Program received a $69,000 Technology for Teaching Grant from HP to explore the role of Mobile Technology in improvement of teaching and learning in engineering and science courses.

In July 2007 the VSU Engineering Studies Program received a second grant from HP called Technology for Teaching Leadership Grant ($120,0000) to transform learning/teaching in engineering and Science courses through innovative uses of technology.

Project Title: "Using Mobile Technology to Improve Visualization, Technical Communication, and Analytical Skills of Engineering and Science Students and to Facilitate Student Learning"

Project Summary: We apply HP mobile Technology to develop student skills in engineering graphics, 3-D visualization, understanding geometric relations and computations, as well as graphical communications in engineering and science. The technology is being utilized in engineering, biology, and geosciences courses to create opportunities for more interaction, collaboration, and mobility and to generate more interest in students and to enhance learning outcome.
