Hello and welcome to my home page!  My name is Ashlee O'Steen and I am a full-time student at Valdosta State University.  I am pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood and Special Education Department. I plan on graduating in December of 2010, just in time for my son to start Pre-K. This will be the second degree that I have obtained from Valdosta State University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Speech Communications in December 2002. At the time, I had been in school for so long that I was ready to get a degree and get a job. After becoming a parent, I decided to change my career to education because it offers a purpose and gives me satisfaction.

I have been married to my best friend, Jason, since May 2002. We have a son, Glenn, who was born in April 2006. We had an opportunity in October 2008 to see "Thomas the Tank Engine" in Cordele, GA. Needless to say, Glenn loved every minute!! Glenn and I love to eat and play at Chick-fil-a or the "cow place" as he calls it.  He especially loves watching and playing with Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, Curious George, and SuperWhy. We love getting on the computer to play with George and SuperWhy at the PBS Kids website.

Glenn is a child that stays active but loves to read books, especially books about trains. These are just two of Glenn's favorite books about trains that he has us read almost every night. He is so familiar with the books that he is able to read the books to us. As a parent and educator, I love to read books to young children. Scholastic has a great variety of books and activities for children of all ages. I find myself going to their site to find resources about parenting, activities for Glenn, and lesson plans for school.
