Hello, my name is Anna Smith.  I am twenty years old and a junior at Valdosta State UniversityEarly Childhood Education is my major field of study.  I chose this as my major because I love spending time with children and cannot wait to participate in educating them.  I have wanted to be an elementary school teacher ever since I was in the third grade.  I had the most amazing third grade teacher, and she made me want to do exactly what she did: positively influence children's lives.

I am from Peachtree City, Georgia, located approximately thirty minutes south of Atlanta.  I was born and raised in Peachtree City.  I have two sisters, one older and one younger.  My older sister attends school at the University of Georgia, and I visit her as often as I possibly can, especially on football game days.  Go dawgs!  Valdosta is the only other place I have ever lived.  I enjoy going to school down here because there is so much to be involved in.  I am the Sisterhood Chair of my sorority, Chi Omega.  I love being a part of VSU's Greek Life because they are so involved on campus and in the community.  I also love Chi Omega because all of my sisters have become my family and my home away from home.

Even though teacher may seem to know everything, they sometimes need a little outside assistance.  Accepting advice from other teachers is always a smart idea.  Experienced teachers have already completed lesson plans and know which ones were successful and which one were not as effective.  Sometimes, ideas from experienced teachers is not always readily available.  The Internet has provided many websites that will help teachers think of new, creative ideas.  One of my favorite sites is called the Lesson Plan Factory.  Another website that is useful in many ways is the Georgia Performance Standards.  Not only does it display the new standards but it also provides lesson plans that meet these standards.
