Chica
Chica Boom Boom is about A telling the other letters that he
will meet them at the top of the coconut tree. D then tells them
that he will beat them there. I, J, and K tag along also.
Eventually the whole alphabet is racing to climb the coconut
tree. They ask every so often if there is going to be enough room
for all of them.
When they are all up there, the tree can't hold them
and they fall. This causes all of the mamas, papas, uncles, and
aunts to come see what the commotion is about and to dust off "their
little dears". After they hug, kiss, bandage, and patch everyone
up, it is night and time for bed. A being the mischievous one,
sneaks out and climbs the coconut tree again.
This book is a great way for kids to learn the
alphabet. It has great rhymes, and is easy to read with a
rhythm. There are also many different activities that you can do
along with this book. One of my favorite activities is using the
phrase "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Look Who Is In Our Room" to to learn
the names of the children.
Critical Thinking
Questions
1. How do you think the mamas and papas felt when they saw that
the babies had fallen out of the tree?
2. Would you have gone and climbed the tree again after you had
already fallen out of it? Why?
