My name is Allie Mugavin and I am originally from Brooklyn, New York. I lived in New York for just a year when my family and I moved to Springfield, Virginia. When I was ten years told my family and I moved to Brunswick, Georgia where I reside when I am not at school. I currently attend Valdosta State University. I am currently pursuing a degree in the field of Deaf Education. In my field of study there are many resources, but I find that the best one is called ASL Pro. This website is a visual American Sign Language dictionary and has many great resources. Another website that I have really enjoyed is the website for the American Annals of the Deaf. This website has many articles about the Deaf and their culture.

Currently I am pursuing a degree in Deaf Education but when I am not at school I enjoy many different activities. This past summer I was a camp counselor at Epworth By the Sea through The South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church. Throughout the summer I was assigned roughly ten girls to lead in games, Bible studies, and other activities while paired with another counselor and set of campers. Below are some pictures from my camp experience in the summer of 2009.

Through my experience as a camp counselor, I have gained an even greater passion for teaching children and more specifically teenagers. Eventually I would like to teach high school students American Sign Language. It was in high school that my passion for signing began and I would like to share that with students.
