Miss Alison

My name is Alison Griepentrog. I am from Duluth, Georgia and I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University. I am studying to become an elementary school teacher in the Early Childhood Education Department. I plan on graduating in December of 2010. After I graduate I am hoping to move back home and begin teaching 1st or 2nd grade in the Gwinnett County Public School System. I can't wait to have a classroom of my own!

My family means the world to me. I am daddy's little girl and a spitting image of my Moma (in every aspect). I have one brother, Jake, who is 18 months younger than me. Jake and I aren't always the best of friends but as we have gotten older we have gotten to be so close. I admire my parents in everything they do. My Moma is the head operating room nurse at a local hospital and my daddy is a retired Air Force veteran who now is an engineer for AT&T. They truly are my heroes.

My Friends are amazing. I don't know where I would be without them in my life. In the fall of my sophomore year here at VSU I joined a sorority. I am a sister of Chi Omega and I absolutely love my sisters. When I am not busy with school work I like to hang out with my friends, play on my computer, babysit, or just about anything, as long as I am having fun. I am a huge sports fan. I love ice hockey. I played for a few years in high school and now whenever I get a chance I go to see my hometown team, the Gwinnett Gladiators play. I also like to watch College Football, Roll Tide!

I hope to positively impact the life of every child that walks into my classroom.
Children are my passion. I feel that in today's society, education is constantly changing. Everyday teachers are given new tasks and standards to meet with fewer resources to accomplish them. As a future educator, I am constantly looking for fun ideas to use for lesson plans and activities in my classroom. One of my favorite website for lesson plans and worksheets is the Learning Page. Another important site for Georgia teachers is the Georgia Department of Education website. With curriculum changing so often, keeping up with the Georgia Performance Standards is a great idea! I am so excited that I am on my way to becoming an elementary school teacher, I am going to love every minute of it!
