"Education Under DA' SeA"
Amaris Hawkins

Hi my name is Amaris Hawkins. I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University where my major is Early Childhood Education. Valdosta State University home to the 2007 National Football Champs. I love to show my blazer pride. One of the reasons I chose to attend Valdosta State was because they had a pretty good football team.

In my spare time I like to spend time with family and friends, sew, watch movies, and listen to music. Aside from attending school, I also model.  I never knew I had the ability to sew my own designs until one day my mother taught me how to use a sewing machine. I had always known how to hand sew, but never how to use a machine. When she taught me, I felt honored because my grandmothers mother taught her how to sow, my grandmother taught my mother how to sow, and now my mom was teaching me. I hope to pass this craft down to my daughters when they develop interest.

I decided I wanted to major in Early Childhood Education when I was fifteen years old. My interest began when I taught Children's Church at my church. I loved teaching the children new things with fun activities. I loved the interaction with the children. What I loved the most was being able to see them go home and tell their parents what they learned from me that day for their parents to only come back to tell me how anxious their kids were to come back!
