S.A.V.E. is an environmental activist organization based on the campus of Valdosta State University (VSU). It is composed of students from all majors, and any VSU student is welcome to join regardless of race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
The mission of the organization is to increase environmental awareness and engage students with the community while maintaining a voice in local, state, and national politics. We believe that environmentalism is a humanitarian cause and that our efforts will not only aid in conserving natural resources, but will serve to strengthen our community.
We are interested in promoting clean energy, recycling, and working to create a more sustainable campus.
S.A.V.E. hosted a celebration for VSU's first solar canopy in November 2013:
Dr. McKinney: "This is a great first step .... So long as I am President, I am committed to developing a culture of sustainability on this campus. I do not believe for a moment that environmental sustainability and the long-term economic well being of the university are contradictory goals."
