Philanthropy and Community Service

Phi Sigma Kappa's national Philanthropy is focused on the Special Olympics. Each semester the Brothers of Phi Sig schedule an event to raise money for the Special Olympics Foundation. This year Phi Sigma Kappa teamed up with Alpha Sigma Alpha and hosted a Ladder Golf Tournament which raised $.

Since TUG is no longer a part of Greek Week, Phi Sigma Kappa has teamed up with Sigma Nu to host a TUG 2012 Philathropy to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. What is TUG you ask? TUG is a form of Tug-O-War, but a more intense version. A series of ruts are dug and each team will lie down in the ruts holding the rope. Each match has a seven(women) or ten(men) minute time limit, but either team could win by getting the marker past the designated area for a match. Each team has up to ten members, and there is a weight limit which must be met. This is the ultimate use of team work and self-dedication.

At Valdosta State our brotherhood is actively involved in the local community and accountable the entire fraternity to earn 10 hours per  brother, each semester. All community service hours involve the brothers on campus, with Habitat for Humanity, Greek life, Student Government, IFC, the Special Olympics, and many other organizations & events.

Community service and philanthropic events stimulate character to better one's self in Phi Sigma Kappa, showing what it means to be a brother of the Psi Septaton Chapter..
