WVVS-FM is Valdosta State University’s student radio station. We receive our funding from student activity fees, so the station is available to any currently enrolled VSU student with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Our purpose is twofold: to provide alternative programming to Valdosta and the surrounding area, and to provide all interested VSU students with training to work in the radio industry.

BlazeFM signed on the air for the first time on July 26th, 1971. The station’s frequency is 90.9 FM. Since 1979 we have been broadcasting at 5300 watts. After a brief hiatus we came back beaten and bruised at very low power. Currently, we are in the process of returning to an acceptable broadcast radius. BlazeFM can currently be heard up to 5 miles from the station studio and offices, which are located on the bottom floor of Hopper Hall. Our format music includes alternative and urban, but we also have a number of special shows.

WVVS Valdosta 90.9 Blaze FM is a FCC licensed full power non-commercial/eduactional radio station. We are licensed to Valdosta State Univsersity.
