BlazeVIEW (Blackboard Vista 8) Accessibility Statement

BlazeVIEW currently uses Blackboard Vista 8 as it's Learning Management System Platform. Below is the Accessibility Statement from Blackboard's help area inside of BlazeVIEW.

About Accessibility

We (Blackboard Vista 8) adhere to Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act and use the guidelines set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). However, guidelines are not enough and we are actively involved with universities around the world to use a functional approach and not just a code-based approach to achieving accessible courses for all users of online learning.

We use a three-tiered approach to accessibility compliance testing:

  • Design: Our team of user interface designers are well-versed in Universal Design principles and accessibility guidelines. During the design phase, all code is validated prior to implementation.
  • External audit: After implementation, all code is sent to a third-party testing group. A comprehensive report specifies any violation or problem areas which are corrected before release.
  • Quality assurance: Our quality assurance is accomplished by both manual and automated processes. The manual process is a visual inspection of the client-side code and the automated processes are conducted using validation software.
